Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Claims Practice Leader!About the roleAs the Claims Practices Leader, you are responsible for the development, implementation and ongoing management of all claim strategy, processes and supporting tools within your respective area of claims. You will lead enhancement initiatives directly and will coach others in doing the same. You'll also support business growth/sales efforts by ensuring a differentiating customer experience, and presenting our overall value proposition story to prospective and inforce customers.What you will do

  • Collaborate with internal/external customers, claim teams and benchmark against the industry to identify enhancement opportunities, ensuring a continuous pipeline of enhancement opportunities.
  • Facilitate dialogue with all necessary parties to determine the most important areas of focus. Act as the primary point of contact for all product enhancements.
  • Lead initiatives, ensuring requirements are well defined and that solutions designs will deliver expected benefits.
  • Ensure smooth implementation of all changes by utilizing the proper project oversight tools, change management discipline and organizational readiness practices.
  • Ensure all impacted business areas and customer constituents are fully informed of changes.
  • Maintain a strong line of communication with the Legal and Compliance areas to ensure that all claim practices are consistent with state and federal regulations.
  • Provide technical direction and guidance to unit managers, team leaders and front line staff on complex issues as needed.
  • Represent claims in contributing to development of marketing and other client facing content.
  • Assist in responding to complex customer information requests.
  • Identify and articulate customization requirements based individual client requests.

      • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
      • Minimum 7 years in an absence management role.
      • Understanding of FMLA, ADA, PFML, Company Leaves, and state unpaid job protections.
      • Ability to read, understand and apply disability contract language.
      • Knowledge of state and federal claim and leave regulations.
      • Knowledge of medical disability management terms.
      • Absence Management Certification preferred.
