Job Description:

The Director of Shelter will implement, and oversee the agency's Shelter, Drop-In, and Support Services within the Homeless Youth Services Division. They ensure contractual compliance, adherence to accreditation and budget standards, and services are informed by youth and young adult voice and perspective.The Director of Shelter, Drop-In and Support Services serves as the agency's liaison for the designated contracted services and grant awards. Reports To: Senior Director of Homeless Youth Servicesessential dutiesManagement Tasks

  • Serve on the Senior Leadership Team and Lead Team and uphold the standards, policies, and strategic priorities of the agency.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with funding, referring and partner agencies.
  • Develop and monitor annual division work plans that meet the budget goals and strategic initiatives of the agency.
  • Ensure work plans are implemented in a cross-collaborative multi-department manner, meet the health, safety, and fiscal standards of the agency, and create opportunities for innovation.
  • Prepare, develop, and manage budgets of the various services.
  • Ensure all grant and contract requirements are met.
  • Ensure ongoing and accurate data collection and reporting on services in compliance with funding and/or referring agencies requirements and agency standards.
  • Ensure all program outcome evaluation procedures are implemented and Performance and Quality Improvement (PQI) procedures are followed.
  • Alert Managers of any areas in which the services are out of compliance with grant requirements and work quickly to successfully resolve the issues.
  • Ensure the physical property of the agency remains in serviceable and attractive condition.
  • Ensure the agency in represented with a strong voice on Regional and State level service provider networks.
  • Ensure timely completion of forms and reports as required by the agency.
  • Participate in on-call rotation with the Managers within Homeless Youth Services and respond to urgent needs in the division during non-business hours. Service Design and Delivery Tasks
  • Develop written guidelines, including comprehensive program goals and objectives, program methodology and evaluation criteria.
  • Ensure administrative, personnel and policy and procedure manuals for the services are adhered to and are revised/updated at least annually.
  • Attend agency or professional group seminars and conferences to increase professional knowledge.Personnel Tasks
  • Oversee hiring, orientation, training, and supervise the Managers who oversee Drop-In Services, Shelter Services, and Outreach and Supportive Services.
  • Ensure annual performance appraisals are completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure weekly and as needed supervision with Managers, and other related division employees.
  • Monitor employee performance and accomplishments of agency goals and objectives.
  • Ensure all disciplinary action directed toward employees conform with agency policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources for any employee disciplinary action needed.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Learning and Development to create orientation and learning opportunities for employees, including an annual learning calendar.
  • In collaboration with the Manager of Volunteers and In-Kind, participate in the selection, utilization and supervision of student interns and volunteers who perform service-related activities.
  • Ensure employees understand their job descriptions and agency policies and procedures.
  • Support Managers and the broader employee teams by providing direct services to clients as needed and supporting crisis response. Community Relations
  • Maintain strong working relationship with funders and community partners.
  • Assess community needs to ensure appropriate services.
  • Act as a liaison to community referral sources to maximize requests for services and collaboration.
  • Represent the agency at various community and governmental meetings pertaining to funding, program development, and cooperative planning, as assigned.job requirements a. Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a human-service field preferred.
  • Five years of relevant working experience including supporting young people experiencing homelessness or housing instability.
  • Minimum of 3 years supervisory and/or management experience.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of MS365 Power Platform.b. Additional Requirements
  • Must satisfactorily pass criminal history check.
  • Must satisfactorily pass tuberculosis (TB) test.
  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid Washington State driver's license (or be able to obtain one by date of employment).
  • Employees and volunteers who operate their own or Friends of Youth vehicles on Friends of Youth business, must have a safe driving record as defined by Friends of Youth.
  • Employees and volunteers who operate their own vehicle(s) on Friends of Youth business must carry auto liability insurance that complies with the requirements of Friends of Youth.
  • Must successfully complete the following health certification requirements within 30 days of employment: CPR, First Aid and Bloodborne Pathogens.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required. There are no exemptions. c. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Able to identify challenges and formulate and implement solutions, utilizing the expertise and input of others.
  • Able to work effectively with employees at all levels and across all departments and divisions of the organization.
  • Able to maintain strong personal and professional boundaries.
  • Able and willing to travel to multiple local sites and other locations in personal vehicle (mileage reimbursement provided).
  • Committed to learn and implement relevant Council on Accreditation (COA) standards and participate in Performance and Quality Improvement processes.
  • Proficient skill set with MS Office Suite programs.We offer:
